Susanne Dumbleton, Ph.D., does the research and then creates courses–e.g., Little Women, Joan of Arc, women leaders of social movements–to enlighten adults about the fight for women’s and human rights in the United States and around the world. She also is a prolific writer of OpEds, articles and essays concerning social justice reforms. A career in higher education enabled Susanne to pursue innovative paths in teaching and academic leadership, particularly serving adult and nontraditional students. Married for 50 years to a man who shared fully in their domestic life and supported her professionally, Susanne was “able to have it all, just not all at once.” Patience, passion, flexibility, reinvention and caring relationships are keys to Susanne’s resilience and vitality. Learning to live solo after her husband’s passing in 2016, Susanne is committed to living a life of gratitude and enriching lives of other people.

“I wanted a life not just a career, and that has required me to make choices.” – Susanne Dumbleton, Ph.D.
